![]() Radio Grundig Satellit Transistor 6001 Vintage. In laymans' terms (my terms!) what does this give me? Presumably access to those SSB and CW stations/broadcasts? But what are they?! Are they of 'entertainment value' or are they 'ham' type things? Typically what are these stations/broadcasts? Will they 'just appear' amidst other stations whereas without the unit I would not have picked them up? Can someone explain please? BTW, SW is currently non-operational so I can't just plug it in and see what happens. Radio Grundig boy 60,receptie extraordinara pe toate benzile. It connects via a multi-way plug to the set. With the button SW Band-Spread it is possible to switch from general coverage (for example 5-7.7 MHz) to a bandspread (5.95 - 6.25 MHz) range in every section of the turret tuner. Can alternatively be operated with batteries. I have the 'add-on' Grundig SSB-kit that is a small box of tricks with knobs and switches that allows single sideband and CW operation. Principle: Double conversion superhet, IF AM 1850 / 460 kHz / FM 10.7 MHz. Maybe the switch is faulty and has been bypassed (or simply stays on, although it does 'click'), or is it only functional in battery mode? in other words, when using the TN12 is the radio on/off function controlled only by the inline switch associated with the TN12 power pack? I don't presently have any batteries fitted. You can move it from room to room fairly easily, but my guess is that most users will find a semi-permanent spot for it. However, the actual on/off switch on the radio set does not appear to do anything? You can turn it to 'off' and the radio still plays. This 1969-1971 design was a BIG, HEAVY portable radio measuring 17 x 8hardly the kind of thing you’re likely to lug to the beach. At first I thought this was someone's mod, but it isn't, it's pukka, part of the TN12 as new. ![]() Curiously, the pack comes with an inline switch in its mains line to turn power on and off to the set. ![]() The set is fitted with the pukka Grundig mains power pack TN12 that fits inside. ![]()
